About the Artist:
Andrew Martinez is originally from New Mexico, and brings with him the colors of the southwest into the paintings of the north. Exploring human figures in surroundings and attempts to bring complex shadows and lighting to life with an array of colors. Having taken art classes in high school and receiving a few awards during state fairs, Andrew set aside his art skills to join the Marines, start a family and complete higher education, completing two masters, and a PhD. He picked up the arts back in 2019 as a way to relieve stress. Starting back with value studies in pencil, and dived back into oil paintings, primarily alla prima, or in one session.
