I am a painter and a sculptor and a memorialist with over thirty years of practice. Born into a British Military family I was sent away to boarding school like most of our kind at aged 7, whilst my parents went to various different outposts of the British Empire. I started my painting career on the streets of Gibraltar (after the lack of support to go to art school.) Within a few weeks I bought a super cheap car and drove to Spain and continued from that moment on, making a life for myself as an artist.
My paintings have ranged from The Dancing monks of Bhutan to Backstage Chinese Opera Performers, from Greek and Roman Mythology to the animal markets of Central Asia, all my work has been drawn from epic journeys and plein air sketching and painting. I’ve had Studios and Exhibitions in Europe, Asia and America.
I now live in my dome home at the top of Saddle Peak between Malibu and Topanga. My studio is often above or in the clouds, and it feels like the perfect place where the connection between natural phenomena and limitless freedom is manifested ~ An endless reciprocal exchange between ethereal and the earthly, formlessness and form.
