Artist's Statement:
I call my work “Abstract Realism” as I focus on patterns and colors. After repeated visits to a site and some preliminary sketching, I complete my work in my home studio, using photos to help recapture the experience of the moment. I paint with a meditative and sensory peace and try to represent my earlier artistic perception.
When I paint I tune into the visual flow I experienced, reducing it to an arrangement of color waves or forms that evoke movement, symmetry or reflections on land or water. As I concentrate I begin to internalize the painting process to where I am moving mentally within the space I am creating. I hope that my paintings will offer a visual conversation on our fields, hills, rocks, flora or trees. I aim to represent landscapes that connect all of us in our daily survival and remind us of the preciousness of our world.
